MESSAGE FROM OUR HEAD BOY - Ronaldo Aliifaalogo

The message I have written is in my language, Samoan, but in English, it means to stay in your family bubble and keep your home safe. The circle symbolizes the bubble and the heart represents the emotion of staying strong. There is a human shadow in the bubble which represents me or you or anyone in this world. The little stick figures around the circle symbolize all the lives in the world that we can save by following the bubble rules 'Stay in your bubble'.

I hope you stay safe in your bubble from Ronaldo Aliifaalogo.

This is a visual art activity, which was to create a piece of artwork that expresses the feelings and emotions about the Covid 19 Pandemic..... See sketch below.

UPDATE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL: Mr Karl Vasau

Thank you parents for connecting with teachers today. We have a really small number of students returning to school and this means that we only need a small number of staff to work and so more of us can keep our own bubbles safe. Thank you Rowandale School families! This means that online learning will continue, so if parents need a home learning pack, resources or a device we will be allowing parents to pick up safely from the school hall on Thursday 23 and Friday 24 September from 9am - 10am. Please wear a mask, keep social distancing and follow instructions of the staff on duty. All students who are returning for the bubbles will be safe and catered for as if they were our own. Please stay connected as we will be sharing further information shortly. Please view Mr Vasau's video below which explains everything....

LATEST UPDATE FROM PRINCIPAL: MR KARL VASAU

Greetings Whanau .........The Governments advice is that Under Alert level 3, Schools and Centre’s should remain closed but can open for children whose parents need to return to work and there is no one else to look after them. Tomorrow our teachers will be contacting all our families to gauge where you are at and how we can keep as many of our students as possible learning from home. Ultimately the best for our community is we stay closed for level 3. At this point if we need to open Level 3 Bubbles they will start on Thursday 23 September, which gives us time to set up our bubble classrooms and spaces safely. We will be sorting out more information for parents tomorrow and will send out another video tomorrow. Please stay in your bubbles, stay safe, stay well and stay connected to our notices ...  Please view Mr Karl Vasau's video below which explains the update....

Latest update from Rowandale School principal

Parents/Whanau ..... there is a contactless pick up of our next home learning pack and a device (only if needed) for this Wednesday 15 September, 11am -2pm from school. There will be no home deliveries and no walk ins, so please organise for yourself or someone to drive in and pick up safely. We want to keep everyone safe, so please respect our decision.

MESSAGE FROM Mr Karl Vasau - Principal

Bula Vinaka Rowandale School Community … Tomorrow a demolition crew will be at school to demolish and remove Room 25/26. There is a small amount of Asbestos in the building walls and so the work involved has to be done in a way that is safe and aligned to WorkSafe NZ regulations. I am happy that the work tomorrow will be done professionally and safely. It’s even more safer given that we are on school holidays and no one will be at school except the demolition crew. If you have any further questions or queries please feel free to contact me directly … Mr Vasau--

LATEST NOTICE FROM MR. KARL VASAU

Kia Ora Rowandale School community.

Thank you very much for being so understanding and cooperative in relation to how we as a school would like to handle the latest Level 3 Lockdown. Our Board of Trustees and School leaderships plan means that our school will remain closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

If it’s announced on Wednesday that the lockdown will go longer then the following things will happen:

- On Thursday morning Parents will be able to pick up a home learning pack from school. We will share the exact time and how you can pick up on Wednesday night. This will be a variety of resources and equipment for students to work on independently or supported while at home.

- Also on Thursday morning our Home Learning Site on our School Website will be updated and strengthened. This will mean that from Thursday students who have access to a device and internet at home will be able to work online and connect with their teacher using zoom and timetabled teaching sessions.

- And on Thursday our class bubbles will start but ONLY for parents who are essential workers and cannot find someone to care for their child will be able to send their children to school provided they have let Mr Vasau know. Our school has a number of devices that we can if needed distribute out to families that need them and have an internet connection. We need time to prepare and process them and we will notify parents when and if these will be available to be picked up.

So over the next 3 days our recommendation is that:

- you ensure your children stay home and stay safe.

- If you have learning resources or equipment from the last lockdown you could work with your children on these.

- If you need assistance with these resources you can contact your child’s teacher.

- If you do have internet and a device you can access our previous online learning site via our school website and complete what ever you can.Our staff have worked hard today to start to prepare for online learning and ensure we have enough home learning packs for every student if the lockdown is extended. We are hoping that the lockdown will finish on Wednesday and that we start back at school on Thursday with all our students returning but if that doesn’t happen we are ready.
